Gully
About
Gully is a French artist and graffiti artist born in 1977. GULLY’s entire artistic concept is based on the technique of “appropriation”. He practiced graffiti intensively from 1992 to the mid 2000s and then decided to change his pseudonym to spend his life as a graffiti artist to that of a studio artist in order to remain anonymous.
Gully’s work can be divided into several categories: mixed techniques on canvas, a mixture of oil and acrylic paints, markers and aerosols, and works on paper, often acrylic-based. His primary inspiration comes from his discovery, a few years ago, of the Appropriation movement.
Today he tells, in sumptuous architectural settings, stories of children who are amazed by art and more particularly by the Masters’ paintings, in little stories that could be seen as comics, without dialogue, allowing the viewer to imagine what the children are saying to each other.
